MEWS HOUSE & THE SECRET GARDEN

    Workshop: Double Down
Exploratory work within Los Angeles’s characteristic suburban pattern to double the city’s density by placing an additional unit on each single-family lot. These “backyard homes” must follow existing code requirements as well as meet the programmatic requirements of the present occupants. Graphic novel techniques used to explain the transformation of the suburban landscape, the specific site, as well as the program of the home itself. Locate a household and a single-family house lot within the City of Los Angeles as the client; that lot will be the site.
